Bebe Pod - Sage Review

Bebe Pod - Sage
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
DS started sitting in the Bebepod when he was about 8 weeks old, as soon as he could support his own head. At that age, all of his other "seats" (swing, high chair, car seat, stroller, etc) had him in a semi-reclining position, where he's resting on the back of his head (that, along with the "Back to Sleep" campaign to prevent SIDS, contributes to the prevalence of "flat head" in many babies today).

Before the baby was able to sit up by himself, aside from us holding him up or his relatively brief tummy times, this was the best (and only) way to have him be upright on his own! There's really nothing else like it on the market. He loved the freedom of being able to turn his head and upper body around and interact with his arms. He sat in it to play, eat, watch TV, or just hang out with us. He really loved sitting independently, like a big boy!

We bought both the Bumbo and the Bebepod, since we couldn't decide which to get initially, and we used one for upstairs and one for downstairs. To be honest, they are really very similar, except that the Bebepod is more aesthetically pleasing. Its styling and pretty pastel colors are much nicer than the Bumbo's loud ugly colors. Both are made from low-density foam, which looks smooth like plastic but feels soft and comfortable to the touch. Both are lightweight and easily wipes clean. It's a great seat to take with you to the park, the beach, or Grandma's house.

The Bumbo seat is designed so that the baby's butt dips further down quite a bit further in the seat than his legs do. That, along with the arm rests, seem to support him better when he was small (around 8-14 weeks). However, after he grew bigger, the Bebepod seems to be a bit more comfortable for him, since his bottom isn't dipped down as low and it maintains his posture better. Without the arm rests, his arms are able to reach his toys more easily in the Bebepod. Also, he likes to rest his hands or his toys on the center pommel of the Bebepod, where as his toys often fall off when he's in the Bumbo. (Our pommel seems very secure, and we did not experience the other reviewers' complaints of it coming off.)

NOTE: This is NOT a chair in which you should leave your child unattended. Since it does not have any buckles, it is possible for a child to wiggle himself out of the seat by arching his back once he's a little older. We usually keep the seat on the carpet, so that he stays safe even if he does manage to get himself out of it. (It's only happened once when he was about 6 months old. DS is 8.5 months old now.) Sometimes, we do place the seat on the table or in another chair in order to feed him, but then he's always closely monitored.

UPDATE: DS is now 11-months old. After he became adept at sitting on his own, unsupported, the Bebepod and Bumbo were no longer necessary. He liked to crawl and stand, so the confining nature of these infant seats were no longer appropriate. However, we're still happy with our purchase. The seats have served their purpose and we will keep them for the next baby.

In summary, this is a GREAT infant seat, which we would definitely purchase again. However, before you make your decision, realize that the usage of it may be limited to approximately 6 months or so, depending on your child.

I love this seat coushin! My son is already 5 months old and there is still room for him because the head support is attached with velcro and can be moved as your child grows. The material is super soft and is easily cleaned.I move the this from my son's carseat to his stroller all the time as it has great head support and keeps him snuggled in. It is easily moved with no velcro or clasps to undo. I recommend this to everyone!Any baby would love it!

JJ Cole Collections Body Support, 0-8 Months Review

JJ Cole Collections Body Support, 0-8 Months
Average Reviews:

This has worked out great for my newborn. It fits well in his car seat (Baby Trend), provides excellent support for his whole tiny body, and matches the seat well on either side (we purchased gray/ivory). I love that the head support is detachable, it wont fit or be needed for much longer, but the body support pillow might be used for a few months. Even at just 6lbs though, he already looks a little squished in the seat. Mainly the head support part. I have to gently push his head back into the head insert to get his head to fit nicely. Our car seat has a built in head "cup" so that might be the reasoning behind him looking a little squished. I plan on using the head support for a few weeks and then just using the body portion from then on. Even in a normal car seat I can't see the head support part fitting for too long.

Overall this is a great item and it's by far the best I've seen on the market.

As a grandparent I purchased two sets for my grandson. He has a lengthy commute each day and this holds a sleepy head in place when he has his power naps. They were very easy to install and remain in place.A simple solution for an uncomfortable problem.

Product Description:
Adequate neck support is necessary for young babies as their skeletal systems experience the majority of it's maturity in the beginning months. The U-shaped (or C-shaped) pillows currently available on the market work against supporting baby's head by pushing it forward and down. SnugZee works to stabilize baby's head by providing adequate support on each side.Side pillow support cushions can be easily removed so harness strap pads can be used alone to prevent digging and chafing into baby's delicate skin. Recommended for rear facing infants, ages newborn - 12 months. This product is custom made and fabric pattern placement may vary.Product is incompatible with Recaro brand car seats.

Snuggin Go Infant Positioner Review

Snuggin Go Infant Positioner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this when my daughter was 3 or 4 months old, since her head would always fall forward when sleeping and it drove me crazy! She also had reflux and I had heard that it was good for that, too. She never really liked being in her car seat, she would scream if she was in it too long. Initially, this solved the problem. Her head no longer fell as much (still did sometimes) and she seemed happier in the car. But, I didn't like how the seat belt became much shorter with this thing in the seat.It made it harder to get my daughter in and out of the seat, and she would cry because of it.

When she got to about 7 months, she started screaming again in the car and really seemed unhappy in her seat. One day my mom suggested that I take out the SnugginGo and maybe she'd be more comfortable. So I did, and ever since she hasn't screamed again! There was more room in the seat again, and the seat belt wasn't as tight when I was taking her in and out.I guess she didn't like it after all, and it obviously wasn't comfortable for her.I don't know how this company claims it's for babies up to 1 year of age.Once my baby got older, it got awfully tight in the car seat when she was in it.And she is small, weighing 10-25th percentile.I don't know how a bigger baby would fit.Overall, I think this is a great product for newborns and young infants, under 6 months of age.I wish I had bought it when my daughter was younger, I would have gotten more use out of it.

Bumbo Baby Seat Review

Bumbo Baby Seat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I previously gave the Bumbo four stars, now its five.

Ive been using the Bumbo for almost 6 months now, and it has helped tremendously if I tally all the work Im using it for.

Like most new mothers, I received and bought hundreds ( it feels like thousands)of new things for my baby. Like I have 3 gym or playmats,4 carriers, clothing, toys and more toys stacked up in the attic, etc.

BUT only 1 or 2 will stand out in each category.

BUMBO falls under the sitting-infant category. Its numero 1--No.1 in my list. When my baby's neck became strong, I started her on a Bumbo. It has a concave seat design, thus contouring around the baby's pudgy bottom. Its rubbery cushy so Im sure she's comfortable.

My baby also likes to see things from an upright position, and Im more than willing to oblige if that's her innate nature of inquisitiveness.

So far, We have used the Bumbo on the following activities:

1. Watch her Praise Baby DVDs
2. Watch me cook from the floor on her Bumbo
3. Play on her Bumbo with crunchy things
4. Recently, FEED her on her Bumbo ( cant use the high chair bec. she cant control her back yet)
5. Enjoy a date with my husband and her on a Bumbo inside the restaurant.
6. Play in the snow in her Bumbo. (Maybe she's wondering why everything around her was so white)
7.BATHE her quickly.

Yes, I'm bathing the baby using the Bumbo. Its hilariously fantastic! When she was 1-3months , of course we use the small tub. Then Ive been using the Summer Infant Bath Support wherein she's laid out like sunbathing. It didnt work so much because she wants to see everythingwithin her eye-level. The squirming didnt help.

I thought, why not use the Bumbo? It worked. As you can see from the video, she is in place and curious about the water.

Im careful not to move away from her so her bath lasts for less than 5 minutes. Bumbo does the job well. The water gushes out from the seat so Im sure she's squeaky clean. After turning the water off, I use the hooded towel from behind her. Place the hood on her head and scoop her up.

Moreover, Bumbo works during dinner time. We bring it with us when we head out to eat in restaurants or family gatherings. People cant help but smile at babies on a Bumbo. As I mentioned, they cant be on a high chair yet. I have a choice --- carry or bumbo her. Bumbo, it is.

Peeves :

1. Your baby may outgrow it too soon.
Some babies just grow too fast. While some babies outgrow their clothes, mine is on track. This may determine how one can outlast the bumbo. my baby's on track and so far she still fits the Bumbo. i could even see there's more room for her to grow into it.

2. Cost? Maybe
A rubber seat may cost too much, but I got a Nursing Baby Bond for $35 or a Boppy for same price. I suppose its uses outweighed cost disadvantage.
I got mine second hand during a street fair, back when I was clueless about baby products and very pregnant. It was literally handed to me. All I could do was nod ok.

3. Alert when baby wants out.
Never ever leave the baby on an elevated area on her Bumbo. Gravity+height+ squirming baby equates to disaster--awful disaster. By the time your babe reaches 5 months, her limbs will be noticeably strong. Hence, you must take precaution. She'll try to push her body out--yes, she'll try and she wont be successful but it'll sure budge the Bumbo.

I keep her on the floor--- at least, when she can whoop out of the chair, she'll land on the floor. Her developed skull can take that just as more falls to come from sitting up or walking. That's all for now.

Snuggin Go Too Child Positioner Review

Snuggin Go Too Child Positioner
Average Reviews:

I purchased the Snuggin Go Too for my 14 month old who would be riding in the car for 8 hours on our vacation. What a wonderful product! I have tried many head pillows for him, all of which were useless. With this product, his head stays back and supported while he sleeps in the car. He was much happier and slept much better then I could have expected. This is highly recommended if you worry about your child sleeping with their head flopped forward as you drive.

I bought this for my 2 week old daughter whom is now 6 weeks. It cradles her whole body and cause her to sit in such a position she could suffocate, because it supports her body not head. I will try it with my 7 yr old in his Recaro Pro-sport after reading the reviw of the 2 yr old never thought about it but seems like it would work better with older children.

Kiddopotamus Snuzzler Complete Head and Body Support Review

Kiddopotamus Snuzzler Complete Head and Body Support
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The snuzzler does an excellent job keeping baby from slumping in seats and swings. It can be used with just about any kind of buckle/harness including 5 point, 3 point, and typical swing belts.

Despite information posted by other reviewers, I would like to note that this item is safe for use in car seats. It is designed so that the padding is to the side of the baby and NOT behind the baby. This is stated on the packaging: "Safe for use in all car seats, Snuzzler is specially designed with padding only on the sides of baby's head and body, not in back of baby, for proper harness fit."This meets the requirements of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which states "Never place any extra cushioning under or behind your baby. This also prevents harness straps from being snug."The NHTSA also recommends using towels to support baby's head and neck, but the Snuzzler stays in place better because of its design and, therefore, in my opinion, would be safer to use than towels.

Also, the NHTSA recommends not putting jackets and heavy clothes on your baby in a carseat because this also prevents harness straps from fitting properly. The Snuzzler is designed with warm fabric on one side and a cooler feeling fabric on the other side to accomodate seasons, keeping baby warmer in colder temperatures and cooler in warmer temperatures, decreasing the need for bulky coats and clothing in the winter.
