Snoozy Organic Cotton Waterproof Crib Mattress Pad Review

Snoozy Organic Cotton Waterproof Crib Mattress Pad

"100% organic cotton and waterproof. Breathable yet waterproof polyurethane membrane backing."

The use of the term "100% organic cotton" is highly misleading. Perhaps the bit of cotton they use to make this is organic, but this item is hardly 100% organic. Polyurethane is one of the least natural/organic things you can expose your child to. They are exploiting the term organic to sell a piece of plastic.

Total Head & Neck Support Review

Total Head & Neck Support
Average Reviews:

This is the best head support I have ever seen or purchased. My second child was 6lbs and had a tiny little head that would roll around in the car seat, stroller and swing.I found this at my local TJ Maxx store for 3.00 and decided to try it.It tucks under her little head supporting it from the bottom and sides instead of the models you would normally buy at the baby stores. This is a much better support for tiny ones and also grows with the child!I love it!I have posted some photos for my little one so you can see how it works!

Munchkin Travel Diaper Changing Kit (colors may vary) Review

Munchkin Travel Diaper Changing Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a replacement changing pad and came across the First Years Deluxe Fold & Go Diapering Kit and the Munchkin Travel Diaper Kit.They cost about the same as a changing pad, but boasted the additional feature of being a diaper kit (meaning they contain the pad, diapers, and wipes). Both had similar features, though the Munchkin Kit cost twice as much as the Deluxe Fold & Go Kit. I couldn't find a store that carried both, so I picked up one of each. Here are my comparisons on certain features.

Folded Size: Winner - tie

The Deluxe Fold & Go, when folded, is the same width, but about 2" shorter in length than the Munchkin Kit.However, because of this, it is also bulkier when folded. Both of them would be cumbersome to carry by hand or have dangling from your stroller.

Changing pad: Winner - Deluxe Fold & Go

The measured size of the changing pads for both kits is the same. The Munchkin Kit's pad is removable (it is attached by velcro), which is a really nice feature. It allows you to use the pad w/o having the diapers/wipes right by the baby's head for easier access. However, the Fold & Go Kit's pad is lightly padded throughout, while the Munchkin Kit only has padding for the baby's head; no padding anywhere else. Also, the more oval shape of the Fold & Go Kit's pad covers more area than the rectangular wings of the Munchkin Kit.

Mesh pockets: Winner - Munchkin Travel Kit (by alot)

Mesh pockets are really important because that is what makes these items "diapering kits" vs. just a changing pad. Both kits feature two mesh pockets, one to hold the included wipes case, and the other to hold diapers.Because it is actually larger, the Munchkin Kit's mesh pockets are also larger. The allows for more room to hold a small tube of cream or Vaseline. The wipes cases fit fine in both kits in their dedicated mesh pocket, but 4 newborn diapers are squished in 2nd pocket of the Fold & Go Kit, while the 2nd pocket of the Munchkin Kit not only holds the 4 newborn diapers, it is gusseted to put more bulkier/larger diapers inside. The Munchkin Kit's mesh pockets are attached to the same rip stop material as the rest of the kit, while the Fold & Go Kit's mesh pockets are mesh on both sides. This makes the Fold & Go Kit's pockets less structural, which is really not an issue with something stiff like a wipes case, but is a pain with soft squishy things like diapers. The wipes mesh pocket opens along the inside of the Munchkin Kit, and there is Velcro securing the contents of the other mesh pocket.Contents are very secure in the Munchkin Kit.The Fold & Go Kit's mesh pockets both open sideways. This isn't a problem while the kit is closed, but when opening the kit, the wipes case very easily (and does) fall out of its mesh pocket.Lastly, the openings of the Munchkin Kit's mesh pockets are elastic on one side, which makes reaching into them very easy. The Fold & Go Kit's openings are not elastic - which is ok since they aren't stiff at all, but is a really nice touch on the Munchkin Kit.

Velcro closure: Winner - Deluxe Fold & Go Kit

The Deluxe Fold & Go Kit wins this round because it has more Velcro. This allows you to stuff more into it, and keeps the overall kit closed better. But as a result, it isn't as attractive as the Munchkin Kit.The Deluxe Fold & Go Kit looks like a pencil case gone bad, while the Munchkin Kit looks like a nice day planner.

Exterior zippered pocket: Winner - Munchkin Travel Kit

The zippered pocket on the Munchkin Kit is considerably larger and its contents are easier to access. One downer about it, though is that the interior is not moisture resistant; you can see the lining.I wouldn't put leaky pens in this pocket.

Stroller strap/carrying strap: Winner - Munchkin Travel Kit

The Munchkin Kit's stroller strap is longer and has more Velcro so the length can be varied. The Deluxe Fold & Go Kit's stroller strap has only a small patch of Velcro, so its length is fixed. The Munchkin Kit features a carrying strap along its top, which is a very nice feature because it makes the kit easier to pick up and carry.TheDeluxe Fold & Go Kit doesn't have a carrying strap at all.

Overall fit and finish: Winner - Munchkin Travel Kit

The Munchkin Kit is an overall nicer kit - nicer to hold, construction seems more sturdy with rip stop fabric and double stitching throughout. The kit also has decorative accents sewn in.The Fold & Go Kit feels like alot of vinyl, very plasticky.Ok for inside a diaper bag, which is our intended use, but not very pretty to carry in public by itself. The trim on the Munchkin Kit seems solid, like what a good backpack is constructed with, while the Fold & Go Kit features more vinyl, probably better vinyl than the body, but not nearly the quality that the Munchkin Kit features.

Price: Winner - Deluxe Fold & Go

Unless you beat this product up or use it as your primary diapering travel system, I don't see how the Munchkin Kit is worth twice as much as the Deluxe Fold & Go Kit.The mesh pockets are better on the Munchkin Kit, but twice as good?I don't think so.And if you're using this inside a diaper bag like I am, a lot of the features that make the Munchkin Kit more desirable aren't even necessary.

Overall, we are keeping both of these bags, though we have no intention of using them as a diaper kit on their own. They will be used as changing pads with a little extra.

They have no room for other things like pacifiers, change of clothes, or a cell phone.Sure, you can carry these items in other ways, but then it shows that these kits really can't replace a typical diaper bag. These aren't hands free, either, so I recommend only using these if you have a stroller to put these in, or they will be a pain to carry around. If you need something this small, you might want to look into a smaller diaper bag instead.

Simmons Kids Pampering Sleep Supreme 234 Coil Baby Crib and Toddler Mattress Review

Simmons Kids Pampering Sleep Supreme 234 Coil Baby Crib and Toddler Mattress

When you consider just how long you'll be using it, the fact that it's really two mattresses in one makes it a great bargain. If you've got one of those convertible cribs that can eventually become a Full-size bed, this will truly hold you off until then.Very well made.My 2-month old sleeps for seven hours at a stretch...AT NIGHT...something her old, thin mattress didn't accomplish. You can spend more on one of these, but you really don't need to.This is the real deal.Run, don't walk.

Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Microfleece, Small Review

Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Microfleece, Small
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We began using the SwaddleMe wrap the day our son came home from the hospital. We have been so thrilled with this product, that we bought the lighter weight cottons ones for the summer and into the fall. Our son has been sleeping soundly through the night (8 hours) since he was 6 weeks old, and I credit that to the tight swaddle this wrap provides.Babies are less likely to wake up if they are snuggly wrapped and can't "startle" themselves with loose hands and legs.I trust this company so much, that I've gone ahead and ordered the Beddie Bye blankets for when he outgrows the SwaddleMe wraps. The wraps wash very well, just one word of caution - before putting the wrap in the washing machine, velcro it closed so that the velcro can't attach itself to other clothes in the washer or dryer.I forgot one time and managed to damage a knit outfit because the velcro created a bunch of pulls on it.

I HIGHLY recommend this product!

Pediatricians recommend swaddling to comfort and soothe newborns, but loose blankets are difficult to keep snug. SwaddleMe wings have Velcro tabs, to wrap up your newborn and stay comfortably in place. As baby grows, wings readjust for a perfect fit. SwaddleMe wings are easily opened to prevent overheating, and the leg pouch can be popped down for a quick diaper checking or changing. SwaddleMe can also be used in the car seat, simply insert car seat harnesses through the access slits!

Regalo Sleep Tite Extra Long Drop Down Bed Rail - White Review

Regalo Sleep Tite Extra Long Drop Down Bed Rail - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is for both Sleep Tite Extra long and another comparable model, Hide Away Extra Long, of same brand. I am currently using both models so I can compare these two with each other.

What's in common?

Overall both are in good quality and solid enough for their purpose. The extra long length is a big advantage for my sleep-mobile kids. They don't just roll sideways. These rails are the longest ones I can find on market. They look very similar and basically have same mechanism for installation. Once installed properly, there is no gap(at least no gap that wide enough to be considered dangerous)between the rail and mattress. I use one for each of my girls. They are both serious rollers and more than often they lean against the rail and put their faces against the mesh. No suffocation worries. I know it's not for co-sleep but I use it for co-sleep with my younger daughter anyway. Don't see any issue.

What's different?

Portability: I ordered the Hide Away(HA) model first for my older daughter and liked it. So when my younger daughter refused to go back to her crib to sleep, I ordered another for co-sleeping. This time I tried Sleep-Tite(ST). The first thing I noticed is ST is much lighter than HA. Besides the top rail of ST can be folded in half, unlike the HA, which has just one solid steel rod. So if I need one for travel, I will definitely get ST because the HA is not really portable by its design and weight.

Installation: The manuals are very detailed and helpful. ST is easier to install than HA because the fabric are put on differently. If you look at the pictures closely, you will see the top part of the HA is round cornered one-piece but in HA, there are two connecting pieces for top rail and side rail.In HA, I had to really squeeze the fabric to put on the rail along the turns. For ST it's easy because you can put on the mesh then bend the top and side rails to position.

Sturdiness: Both are sturdy enough as I can tell. However, if I rock the rail hard, the ST is more wobbly because the folding mechanism. The HA is one piece of solid panel that barely moves. I use HA for my older daughter's bed. She would grab the rail when she tries to climb up to her bed (which I don't recommend your kid doing) and the rail support her very well. So you can tell it's pretty sturdy.

Something interesting about the folding mechanism on ST: The hinge(or knot) in the middle of the top rail is protected with some sort of cushion. I guess it's to prevent children hitting on it since it's protruding and hard. It serves the purpose well. However, combined with the type of fabric they use, it is very "crunchy" and make noises when baby scratch it. It attracts my little girl to scratch more. So depend how you look at it, it's entertaining (for baby) and annoying (in the middle of night). I don't find myself bothered at all. Just funny.

My complaints:

The only thing bothers me is how the rail drops down. I first thought the push-in-under-mattress is a good idea in HA. However, it's very hard to do and run into the risk of ripping the bottom of mattress. I don't really need the "Hide-Away" feature since who cares if the bed is not picture perfect in a house with young kids. However, I do need the rail to be dropped down completely that I can sit on the edge comfortably for bedtime story. The problem is the "hinge" of the rail is at the level of the bottom of mattress. And the rail is pretty tall(a good safety feature though). So you need certain height of the bed to accommodate the whole piece. In my case, the rail would drop to floor at an angle that I couldn't sit on the bed without some hopping. It's not a problem on our adult-sized bed though.

Another thing is I can't drop the rail with one shot. I have to go to the left to disengage the pin then go to the right to disengage the other pin before I can drop the rail. I am 5'4" with not so long arms. I guess it's a trade-off of getting an extra long rail.

In summary, both are good quality products I trust to put on kid's bed. If you need something for travel, use Sleep-Tite. If you don't plan to take it away, use Hide Away since it's more solid.
